*Ocean Party*
Inside a dark warehouse-
Gaulun is meeting with two men. They're telling him
they are displeased with the things they've heard
about him. They accuse him of running away and leaving
business unfinished, alluding to when he lost the
nuclear warhead. They want to fire him, because they
cannot trust him. So he shoots them.
Then Gaulun bitches about how his side projects have
now been messed up by 'that boy', and decides it's
time to return to his main project, while looking at a
CDR labelled 'Toy Box'.
Title
A sunny summer day in the school yard.
Students in hard hats work on a large structure.
Sousuke's overseeing the project, and Kaname's run up
to him, in a frantic manner, and demands to know
exactly what that thing is.
He explains that it's a secure entrance gate (for the
school's upcoming annual cultural festival). Last
year's festival featured the theme 'peace', so this
year the theme is 'security'. The gate the students
are building offers both public survelliance and
security, and could withstand even a well-armed
military ambush (should such a group attack a high
school's summer festival!)
Kaname (very exasperated) tells him she thinks he's
been a lot wierder (in the military sense) since he
came back from his last mission.
Shinji seems to be speaking for the working students
when he tells Kaname they've all been going along with
these plans since they like the idea of their visitors
feeling safe.
Kaname grumbles that only someone like Sousuke could
feel safe with such a thing...
She then whips out the school's festival budget and
shows that the current cost for the gate has already
been 1,471,000 yen (roughly $1K)!
Now Sousuke assumes a proud tone- he practically brags
about being able to probably get ahold of a 'cheap'
military armored tank (which normally go for 5
million)...
And Kaname cuts him off by whacking him with the
budget.
Seems the school's only allowing 1,500,000 yen for
total festival spending. The gate has taken almost all
of it and they might not be able to have a festival
this year- just a dumb 'security gate'!
She walks away from him, towards the gate, in a rather
foul mood, ordering that the gate be demolished.
Suddenly everyone gasps and Sousuke tells at Kaname to
stop but it's too late- she steps too far under the
gate and suddenly she gets sprayed from above with red
paint!
Now she's getting really angry, and Sousuke tells her
it's a malfunctioning security device (but the paint
isn't dangerous...)
She pushes him and begins to rant about being in hell,
wasting her youth arguing with a military freak. And
summer is such an important time of year for a young
woman...
'Really?' Sousuke, on the ground, asks.
Kaname's still ranting, having decided that after the
festival, for the rest of the summer break, she's just
going to sit around and do nothing and be
uninteresting.
Sousuke gets up and asks her if she's really going to
be free for that time, and then
asks her if she wants to go to the islands.
This totally stops Kaname's current bad mood- she's
shocked (and really blushing) when she asks him
'what?'
He says it should be just the two of them going.
All of the surrounding students are watching, totally
silent...
'Seriously?' she asks
'Seriously. I'd been wanting to ask for a while.'
Kyouko approaches the edge of the group with her usual
good cheer, and Shinji hushes her up real quick,
saying 'don't ruin a good moment'
Kaname's really freaked, and asks 'This isn't anything
strange, is it?'
'Nothing strange.'
'Nothing dangerous?'
'Nothing dangerous.'
Kaname's suddenly in a strange mood. She says
'Alright, but really, you should be nicer when you
ask'. She turns away, sort of dreamlike, and ends up
walking back under the malfunctioning gate. She
doesn't seem to care one bit when she gets sprayed
with blue paint, commenting that blue is the best
color for summer, after all.
Later-
Kaname's trying on a white bikini, she seems both
cheerful and nervous.
In her memory Mizuki gives it to her and tells her to
take it.
Kaname coughs, packing it into her case, and shows
that she's cynical enough to take along her frumpy
school swimsuit just in case.
While packing, she muses some, wondering if it's
really a smart thing for the two of them to go alone
somewhere, but then decides that if it's with Sousuke,
nothing really bad can happen.
She comes across Kyouko's camera, and remembers Kyouko
giving it to her with the order to take lots of
pictures, and the comment that Sousuke's invite is
really daring.
Kaname decides that since this is promising to be such
an adventure, perhaps she should take along her nice
dress.
A submarine-
The officer watching the radar is watching an unknown
submarine approach, it looks like they will collide
with it!
The officers panic, as they can only watch the
mysterious vessel get closer and closer, but at the
moment of impact, there is none. The signal
dissapears. There was no impact, and now they can find
no sign of such a ship.
Maybe it's the 'Toy Box' an officer asks.
Another one explains the rumor of a ghost submarine
that's been going around the region- a submarine
vessel that appears fast and dissapears just as
quickly.
The sub's captian is pissed, and decides the captian
of any ghost ship like that is dangerously
crazy.
The submarine continues on it's path, and behind it
follows the huge Dannan.
On the Daanan's bridge, Tessa shivers, but says it's
nothing.
She tells Marducas they did something very mean to
that sub, and sounds apologetic.
The Daanan is practicing manuvers, as needed, but
unfortunatly they lack anyone good to practice
with.
Marducas advises Tessa to not worry about it.
She cheers up and says they should return to base-
they have a party to get ready for, and there is a
guest coming.
On an airport tarmac-
Kaname, suitcase in tow, admires a plane- Sousuke
explains he had it arranged for her.
She follows him towards it, and cheerfully comments
she was wrong about him (thinking he couldn't do
something like this), and asks him exactly where they
are going.
He answers Mithril's island base, and adds that
Captian Tesstarosa's been wanting to meet with
her.
Kaname stops walking, and Sousuke stops too, suddenly
as if choked. Her good mood has entirely
evaporated.
On the Daanan-
A message is coming in for Tessa.
She's sad as she says they will have to postpone the
party- they have to change heading to south to Ferio
Island.
There's been a crisis there- an american base has been
raided by a group of armed men.
The base is a chemical factory and could cause alot of
damage if destroyed, enough to seriously harm the
little island country.
Marducas says that the americans will surely send in a
special Arm-Slave squad, and Tessa hopes that that
squad will be successful, but shows her doubt.
On the plane-
Sousuke and Kaname sit on opposite sides of the aisle.
She just stares out the window, and he seems rather
uncomfortable with the silence, so he breaks it with
her name.
Kaname keeps looking out the window as she replies
with a forman, distant tone 'What? Sergeant Sousuke
Sagara?'
He looks irritated, but tells her that if she has any
sort of problem, she should let him know about it
because he wants to be able to fix it, as much as he
can.
Her reply is pretty chilly, she says that it's
alright, it's something someone like him couldn't do
anything to fix.
Sousuke frowns, looking down.
Suddenly one of the pilots calls for Sousuke- he has a
message.
Up with the pilots he talks with Kurtz.
Due to an emergency, he's being redirected to the
Daanan, and that he has to bring Kaname.
Sousuke reminds him that Kaname's just a civilian, and
Kurtz says it's Tessa's orders, and besides, the
Daanan is the safest place in the world.
Sousuke relents.
Kaname's still looking out the window, and her face
sours even more as Sousuke re-enters the cabin.
He asks her if she has a swimsuit with her, and orders
her to change into it.
He goes into the back room, leaving her very
surprised.
She changed (and stowed away her clothes as ordered)-
into the frumpy school swimsuit.
She expresses dread when she sees Sousuke all geared
up in scuba style gear, and then some.
He goes to hand her some gear, but changes his mind,
deciding time is too short and that he'll take care of
'it' himself.
She can't make a coherent protest (although she really
tries), and when he's done she's wearing a harness
(like he is)
The co-pilot reminds Sousuke about the time limit,
Kaname tries asking what's going on (but is pretty
much ignored).
Sousuke says goodbye to the co-pilot, connects himself
(tandem jump style) to Kaname, and pushes her to the
plane's door. It opens, she's trying to get out a
complete question/protest, but can't- what she does
finally manage to say, standing in the open door above
the sea, is 'you're not really thinking of jumping!?',
he say's 'that's right' while pushing them both
out.
Free fall- Kaname's in another wierd mood as she
thinks 'blue sky, blue sea, the two of us...'
The parachute opens and then releases just above the
water- they drop into it with a splash.
On the bridge of the Daanan, splashdown is
confirmed.
But the officer monitoring the situation is suddenly
alarmed- on the surface there are sounds of violent
splashing and yelling- someone may be drowning!
Tessa orders for an audio channel to be opened, and
the whole bridge listens to alot of splashing around
as Sousuke tries to fend of a throughly pissed and
yelling Kaname.
Tessa listens intently a moment, then sighs and says
the situation is alright.
Underwater-
The Daanan had sent out a module made for this
purpose- pulling in a person (or two, in this case),
while providing an air line.
Tessa welcomes Kaname to the Daanan, and comments on
her exhaustion.
Kaname's sitting, towel draped, with a cup of tea, and
answers that of course she's exhausted, with all of
this stuff happening. Only someone like Sousuke
woudn't be, she says.
He's standing at the back of the room, already in full
uniform, and standing at attention.
Tessa apologizes, and explains they have a sudden
change of plans, messing up the plans for the
island.
Kaname smiles friendly, and tells Tessa it's really
alright, and that she had wanted to meet with her. She
says they have some talking to do, right?
Tessa cheerfully agrees, and orders Sousuke to
announce that their guest has arrived, then asks
Kaname if she'd like to change clothes, so she can
give Kaname a tour.
In a Daanan hallway-
Tessa explains to Kaname that the sub's hallways were
designes to be wide for safety reasons- even in
emergencies noone hits the wall.
Just then, as she's speaking, Tessa walks into the
wall and falls to the ground with a thunk, but says
she's alright.
Kaname is amazed she's really the captian, and helps
her up.
Tessa says sometimes she feels wierd whenever she
hears that (that she's captian), but that the Daanan
is her home, and she knows everything there is to know
about it.
The two girls have come to a portal, and Tessa begins
to open it. She apologizes because Kaname might not
like this 'sort of thing' but.... and she pushes open
the door.
Kaname follows her into the room cautiously- it's vast
and seemingly empty.
Suddenly a light slams on, and Marducas calls for
attention.
He formally announces that for her courage,
participation, and even temper in past situations of
difficulty, they salute her.
All of Mithril's crew (minus Tessa) are in formation,
and offer a formal standing salute to her.
The room is the ship's main hanger, and even the
Arm-Slaves are lined up, saluting.
(One M9 turns and waves to Kaname- assumably Kurtz.
The ARX stands all the way in the back, and maybe it's
just me, but it really lools like it's the only one
not saluting.)
Kaname is really wide-eyed with shock, blushing.
Tessa says that when the crew found out Kaname was
coming, they wanted to show her their appreciation for
her involvement in prior events.
Kaname's flustered saying she's honored but protests
the importance of anything she ever did, and Marducas,
standing next to Kalanin, cuts her off, explaining
that the things she's done could not have been done
easily even by a soldier, and that she should be
proud.
Tessa confirms...
Kaname hesitates a moment, then smiles and offers a
formal salute back, at which point the crew
cheers.
Tessa declares that ceremony over, and that now it's
time to get ready for a party, to which Kaname is
invited.
It's the Tuatha de Daanan's first birthday
party.
At the party -
Kurtz is on stage, acting as master of ceremonies.
He announces that now it's time for the final game of
bingo. The first prize is....a sexy kiss from Captian
Tessa!
In the crowd Tessa angrily protests she never agreed
to such a prize, and Kurtz does a near perfect
imitation of her saying 'Anything that I can do to
help, I will...'
Tessa splutters, saying she did say that, but...
Kurtz then announces that if Tessa doesn't like that
prize, then another good prize would then be her
favorite pair of panties.
Tessa shrieks that that prize is even worse, so Kurtz
says it's settled, with the prize being the kiss.
The (mostly male) crew cheers as the game
starts.
It's been many rounds of numbers, and Kurtz wants to
know if anyone is close to a win. Quite formally
Sousuke raises his hand. He turns to both Kaname and
then Tessa, wondering what's wrong- both girls are
standing close but not 'with' him, each on one side,
and had both had slight gasping reactions.
Kurtz silently thinks Sousuke is a lucky bastard.
Tessa silently wonders what she would do if Sousuke
wins...
Kaname's silent, with a disapproving expression.
The next number comes up, and now two more officers
announce they are both one away from a win.
The two men, officers McKaren and Laing, glare at each
other.
Tessa prays for Sousuke to win...
Kaname's looking increasingly nervous...
Sousuke looks intent...
The next number...
And the winner is McKaren!
Sousuke looks surprised as McKaren cheers and Laing
stomps.
Both girls sigh...
McKaren is up on stage to receive his prize. The crowd
jokes with him as Tessa walks up to him. He leans down
to her, and she gives him a peck on the cheek. The
crowd cheers, Sousuke is wide-eyed. McKaren cheers and
announces he's having so much fun it's the best day of
his life.
On Ferio Island, a battlefield has been made.
Arm-Slaves are laying around in various states of
destruction. Somewhere, a man is calling for help. The
american squad has been hit badly.
An AS shoots at one that is approaching- we hear
Gaulun's distinctive laugh.
The american special squad is losing.
The approaching AS? Its the red one from the desert
(the one Zaido piloted)
Gaulun finishes off last American, who's helpless
against him.
The party-
The girls are onstage- Melissa on keyboard, with Tessa
and Kaname singing together.
The crowd cheers along...
In the back of the room, Sousuke stands. A quick shot
of Kaname's face, and Sousuke sighs.
Kurtz is sitting next to Sousuke, and says 'Yep, she's
got a great body, a great personality. She's pretty,
and any average guy would fall right for her.'
Sousuke replies that he wouldn't know about any of
that, he's not interested.
Kurtz asks him why he sighed.
Sousuke's silent a moment, then replies that he
disappoves of the noisy party, because the sub is on
the way to a mission.
Kurtz cuts him off, saying that stuff is boring. He
says Tessa approves, so Sousuke shouldn't be worrying,
if she isn't.
Kurtz's tone drops to a more serious one, and says
that they all need some sort of release from the
buildup of tension.
Ferio Island-
Battle debris clutters the landscape.
A man informs Gaulun that 'they' will be showing
up.
They have information that 'they' will be sending up
an assault team.
Gaulun laughs.
The man continues, saying that the two from before
will also be there.
'That couple?' Gaulun asks, then says 'great!'
The man suggest that 'they' not be treated in the same
manner as everyone else in Mithril.
Gaulun says that the 'child' can't be allowed to die,
but that 'accidents' are things you make
happen.
At the party, the girls are ending their song, and the
crowd cheers.
