I think of soundtrack #1 as the cheerful, innocent soundtrack. Sountrack #2 is a ghostly, haunting soundtrack. This cd is darker, eerie, chilling. It takes the opposite format from the previous cd, this one starts off with the duel songs featured in the Black Rose Saga, then leads into the Black Rose Saga instrumentals. Overall, the duel songs here are more ecletic sounding overall then any of the other Saga duels in my opinion. The instrumentals tease tauntingly of things unknown, inciting curiousity and even almost dread. Even the cheerful 'upbeat' themes sound almost clouded with a measure of strangeness or soberity. A few tracks even broach into a sound that could be confused with US style New Age.
Track 14 is the song played as Nanami faces a nightmare of heiferdom, sung by a male chorus in this version (in the episode in question there was a part where it is sung by a female. That version can be found on cd #5).
Track 23 is the theme of the Shadow Girl for the Black Rose Saga, a quirky carnival sound that could be upbeat if it weren't so nightmarishly twisted. I like it.
Track 25 is another version of ZUM- this one is a longer version, featuring a new instrumentalization even heavier than the indrustrial remix. The male chorus has receded but the female chorus is so serious I'd really have to say the voices sound gender-wise ambigious. This version features an extended 'mokushi kushimo' series that is over a full minute in length, with a pounding beat and dancing guitar line. I like.
Track 26 is ominous, an instrumental that feels like darkness overshadowing a struggling innocence. A hint of what is to come, surely.
Then the ending theme, tv size version, and then Virtual Star karaoke.
